a passport to education

i bought the vampire weekend tickets about 4 months ago. when i saw that the show
was at malkin bowl, on the 2nd-to-last saturday of the summer, it was an easy sell. ill admit that im not a humongous fan, but right now as they aggressively fill my apartment with wacky sounds, the anticipation of awesomeness builds. after the show ill probably be all ga-ga and spit-talking on people, especially after spending the afternoon daydrinking in stanley park.

theo is pissed right off, he knows what goes on at that cab stand, so once in a while, i have to take a beating.

im entering a writing contest. even though i swore off all contests after the matt good ordeal. unless they involved liquor of course. but i figure a writing contest is a bit different and way more hidden, so ive started writing this fancy story about the weird things i see atop my new west watchtower. it sucks right now, but so does a tin-foiled potato before you throw it on the fire. and before you douse it in questionable camping sour cream, and cooler-water hot sauce.

my friend steve has been writing some amazing photo-stories right here.

he is fuckin talented. i knew that the first time i ever met him, at our old PG alt-metal-hip-hop-instrumental-jazz jam space. he played bass amazingly well, then got drunk and took big bites out my roomates raw squashes. long story. but im real glad that he's still creating. we played alota songs together over the years, and drank alota breakfasts. sometimes it takes a while for a flower to find its roots, after leaving the garden.

welcome home.

101.2, The Zoo

sometimes the skytrain intercom screams crazy things.

"Randy Richter, please meet your party at broadway station...Randy...Richter...please meet your party at broadway station."

it sounds like a really fun party. if i was an asshole kid, and felt like running off, i would probably be lured back by the possibility of a really fun intercom-announced party. instead of the tear-soaked lashing all the way back home instead of going to science world with the rest of my class.

im gettin on the train in a few hours. jerry seinfeld is telling jokes at the queen elizabeth theatre, and i gotta ticket to watch, thanks to meg. i still watch seinfeld almost everyday. the fact that its on about 26 times a day, makes it an easy sell during meal preparations and pre-sleep fade outs. ive never seen any of his stand-up outside of the show. excitement being had right now.

harrison lake never fails me. last weekend was a powerful punishment of peaceful party. and by party i mean swim. brought goggles, and spent most of my non-eating/drinking time in the water hunting for golf balls. docc brought his john daly driver, and so on. i even brought the glove. we overcame the 'no fires' rule with my faithful hibachi. propane in the day, and at night, a fancy new invention called briquettes. christmas lights and glow sticks added to our fun. campfires are my favorite part of camping, but this trip did not suffer from the lack of one. constant blasting of my friend the sun also helped.

had a half-day
friday workday today, and this is the product of my leftover caffeine strength.

take it ease.

the hospital lottery

injuries are the result of memories.

public speaking was always easy for me. so, when best friends ask me to MC their weddings, i always accept. friday was no exception, as Cam McLean is a patriarch in my life. celebrating great people is easy. attacking great people is fun. loving great people is automatic. Katrina makes Cam even better.

weddings are cool, i have 2 more in september. each out of town, and each rivaling in their own destructive capabilities. pal-bombs, hug-bombs, jager-bombs. incredible excitement requires a healthy toll at the parking garage, but the space close to the entrance is always worth it.

our goalie spent the night in the drunk tank.
after a hockey team fundraiser gone rad.
i missed it of course, playing vodka and boards games, and i should be benched.

big concert on friday, big stag party on saturday, big camping on sunday.

weekends should be called experiments.

"hey demons...what are doing for the long experiment?!?!"
"studying the effects of function."
"need an assistant?!?!"
"no."
